SAMBAR

 
 
Ingredients:
  • 1/2 Cup Toor dal 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 Tomato
  • 3-4 Green chilly
  • Potato
  • Carrot
  • Beans
  • Peas
  • ½ cup coconut
  • Tamarind
  • Turmeric
  • Asafetida
  • Coriander leaves
  • Curry leaves
  • Salt and water
  • Red chilly powder

 
Sambar powder
  • Chana dal
  • Coriander seeds
  • Dry red chilly
  • Fenugreek seeds

procedure

  • In a pressure cooker keep Toor dal with one cup of water for 3 whistles and once it done keep it aside.

  • Now chop all veggies and keep all veggies to boil separately for 10-15 minutes till half done. 
  • Dry roast all sambar powder ingredients and blend it to fine paste.
  • Now heat oil in skillet, add crushed garlic saute till slight color change
  • Add mustard seeds once it starts   spluttering, add cumin seeds, Asafetida and curry leaves.
  • Add green chilly, chopped onion, turmeric powder, then add tomato sauté it till soft and add frozen coconut sauté for sometime
  • Add boiled veggies and sauté for some time, add red chilly powder and sambar  powder.
  • Add mashed dal and Adjust water as needed to get a sambar consistency
  • Add salt according to your taste.
  • Close the lid and keep it 10-12 min on low flame.
  • Finally add coriander leaves and ready to serve
