IDLI


 




 

 

Ingredients :

  • 3 1/2 Cup Idli Rava/Cream of Rice
  •  
  • 1 Cup Urad Dal
  •  
  • Salt  
  •  
  • Baking Soda
  •  
  • Oil

 Procedure

  • Soak Urad dal for atleast 6-8 hours.
  •  
  • Add idli rava  and you have to wash it for atleast 4-5 times to get nice white idly's and then soak it for 6-8 hours.
  •  
  • Soak both Urad dal and idli rava separately.
  •  
  • Now add soaked Urad dal into blender and blend it to fine paste using small amount of water.
  •  
  • Squeeze water from  idli Rava and  add blended  Urad dal paste and add pinch of baking powder..
  •  
  • Now transfer this mixture into bigger container because after fermentation it doubles the quantity.
  •  
  • In Winter season as it will be too cold it wont get fermented  well so I usually keep it in oven and keep the oven light ON and keep it for fermentation throughtout the night.So that we get nice idly batter.


  • Now add salt as required.



  • Spray some oil on mould.
  • Pour the  batter into idli mould and keep it in pressure cooker without cooker regulator weight and close the lid and cook for 15-20 minutes till pressure starts coming.
  • Now soft idly are ready to serve..
  • Enjoy Idli  with chutney  and sambar...:)
